Irish Times' New Innovator covers EgoNav Analytics

For tech-savvy fraudsters, the arrival of the internet made it relatively easy to hide money. However, Prag Sharma and Lorcan Coyle of UCD’s school of computer science and informatics are planning to join the teams striving to make it a lot more difficult.

EgoNav Analytics’ promoters are Dr Prag Sharma and Dr Lorcan Coyle of UCD’s School of Computer Science and Informatics and Clique, the Graph and Network Analysis Cluster.

Episode 4 (Thurs 5th July) featured Clique's Prof. Pádraig Cunningham and Storyful's Mark Little, describing how the application of network analysis research methods to social media can help to suppport online journalism, delivering the "news from noise" on platforms like Twitter.

Clique Research on the Geographical Flow of Music hits the headlines

To do so, Conrad Lee and Pádraig collected data form the social media website last.fm, which provides a detailed snapshot of what its users in hundreds of cities listen to each week.
ICWSM 2012
Submitted by Prag Sharma on Mon, 2012-05-28 21:59.ICWSM, the International Conference for Weblogs and Social Media will be held in Dublin in May 2012. Clique's Principal Investigator, Conor Hayes and Senior Postdoctoral Researcher, Derek Greene are the local chairs for this year's conference.
ICWSM will host a special Social Media Industry Event on the afternoon of June 6. There are a limited number of separate tickets for this available at €50.
The event will consist of two panels – one on Social News and the other on Social Business.
