This research cluster will employ six postdoctoral researchers and 14 research students in addition to this senior postdoctoral researcher (SPD). The SPD will work with the academic staff associated with the cluster in directing the research within the cluster. The SPD will help ensure that the overall research objectives of the cluster are met. This will involve coordinating the work of the research students and other postdocs to meet these research objectives. The SPD will also assist in managing the interaction with the industrial partners in the project. The SPD will assist in the development of the research activities in the cluster by helping in the preparation of other research funding proposals. The SPD will report to the lead PI and the co-PIs as dictated by the workprogramme requirements.

One PD will take a leading role in the probabilistic network modeling strand of the project. This will involve developing novel probabilistic models for network data, computational methods for model fitting and applications of these models. In addition, the PD will help coordinate the work of the research students in this strand and collaborate with researchers in other research strands. The PD will report to the co-PI of the probabilisitic network modeling strand of this project and the lead PI and other co-PIs as dictated by the workprogramme requirements.
This post-doc position will be based at the Digital Enterprise Research Institute (DERI), at the National University of Ireland, Galway. The successful candidate will work with colleagues in the Unit for Information Mining and Retrieval on the analysis and modelling of information flow and diffusion in device-mediated communication networks such as social or mobile device networks. A key challenge is to define the features that provide an appropriate abstraction for modelling the structures and behaviours that underlie information diffusion in online communities and mobile device networks. The candidate will be expected to familiarise themselves with several different modelling techniques from epidemiology, agent-based modelling as well as System Dynamics modelling and to develop and test hypotheses about how these may be applied in the context of social and mobile device networks. In addition, the PD will help coordinate the work of the research students in this strand and collaborate with researchers in other research strands. The PD will report to the co-PI of the information flow strand of this project and the lead PI and other co-PIs as dictated by the workprogramme requirements.
The research cluster manager will be responsible for the day-to-day organisation, documentation, planning and technical supervision of the activities of the Clique research cluster. The appointee will work with academic staff, engineering staff, postdoctoral staff, postgraduates and industrial collaborators of the research cluster. The research cluster manager will coordinate the process of reporting to Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) -the funding agency. This will involve liasing with the other staff working in the cluster to ensure that all reports and deliverables are returned to SFI on time. The manager will monitor the research budget and research outputs to ensure that the research work is meeting all objectives and progressing within budget. The work of the cluster manager will entail regular liason with other UCD management and administration personnel. The manager will be based in UCD CASL (casl.ucd.ie) along with the other researchers associated with the Clique cluster.
